COVID-19 Update Letter

December 23, 2020

Dear Residents, Responsible Parties and Family Members:

First and foremost, we want to thank you for your continued support of Victoria Post Acute Care over these past two months; we are grateful for your trust in us as we work hard to keep you or your loved one safe. We have learned much about the coronavirus over this time, and continue to update our infection prevention protocols in response to the updated guidance and directions we receive from CMS, CDC, and State/County/Local Health Departments and authorities.

We write today to update you on what is happening with respect to the impact of COVID-19 on our resident community. As things continue to evolve, we want to make sure you are kept in the loop and have access to the most current information. Effective May 8, we will be communicating with you following our receipt of confirmation that a resident or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. We will likewise contact you if three or more residents or staff members have a new onset of respiratory symptoms occurring within 72 hours of each other. We will ensure that you are made aware of either one of these events (if they occur) by no later than 5pm on the following day, and will also share with you during that communication the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at the Facility.

Specifically, we learned today, 12/23/20, that 3 residents / 1 staff member have tested positive for the virus. As of 11/16/20, we are one of the very few SNF in San Diego able to admit COVID-19 from the community in collaboration with our local county public health and state licensing office, We currently have a total of (40) residents and (5) of staff who have tested positive for COVID-19.

In response to this development, we have notified the State and County Departments of Public Health, and will also include this information in our weekly updates to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We will also continue with the implementation of our robust infection prevention and control program, which includes such interventions as staff wearing masks at all times while in the Facility; vigorous hand hygiene; infection surveillance and prompt response to identified changes in condition; frequent assessment of residents per shift and per day; use of PPE with positive or presumed positive patients; screening and assessment of all staff and essential medical visitors prior to entry into the building; and social distancing.

Of course, we will continue to call you directly if there is any change in your condition or that of your loved one. You are also free to call us if you have any questions or concerns of any kind. We remain grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your lives, and to be of service to you in our provision of quality skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services.

We thank you for your continued support as we work to keep our residents and staff safe during these challenging times. Of course, please do not hesitate to contact us at the Facility if you have any questions at all – our phone number is 619-440-5005.
